The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has a tightly wound, earthy bouquet at the moment. The Vosne-Romanée Village is actually more expressive. The palate is dense on the entry with tight grip, quite firm in the mouth with dark berry fruit laced with allspice and a touch of anis. This is definitely going to need time as it seems to be closing down. Tasted at the Domaine.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is famous for its robust, structured Pinot Noir wines with rich flavours of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with earthy, spicy notes. Known for firm tannins and full-bodied character, these wines are ideal for ageing. Although lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine Henri Gouges, Domaine Faiveley, and Domaine Robert Chevillon, all celebrated for showcasing the unique terroir with traditional winemaking.
